KSB TOWNE CHOIR: AN OVERVIEW The Towne Choir is for KSB Jacketed Trebles who have

  1. Decided that they want to sing with KSB at least through the 8th grade or until they can no longer sing in their treble voice (whichever comes later)
  2. Are able to consistently attend a second weekly rehearsal on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, in addition to maintaining an excellent attendance record on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm
  3. Have developed an advanced level of singer-musicianship and are committed to improving their singer-musicianship
  4. Are exemplary choristers in rehearsals and at performances

Rehearsals: Towne Choir Candidates (TCCs) rehearse with Towne Choir every Saturday from 9:00am to 12:30pm and every Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In addition, TCC rehearsals will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on those days when Sunday Make-up rehearsals are scheduled. A full schedule of Make-up rehearsals will be published at the beginning of the upcoming season. There will be approximately 5-7 TCC rehearsals each season. Performances: Members of the Towne Choir perform at the KSB Holiday and Spring concerts, all KSB and CY-sponsored performances, and a good number of non-KSB sponsored concerts throughout the season. Therefore the Towne Choir is for boys who want to perform often with KSB. Whenever Towne Choir is called for a performance, Towne Choir Candidates are also called. Saturday Absence/Make-up Policy: Each Saturday rehearsal consists of two sessions. The first runs from 9:00 am to 10:45 am, and the second runs from 10:45 am to 12:30 pm. A missed session requires one Sunday night Make-up rehearsal (6:00 to 7:30 pm). If a boy misses an entire Saturday rehearsal (both sessions), two Sunday Make-up rehearsals are required. Towne Choir members are permitted to miss one Saturday rehearsal in the Fall semester and two in the Spring semester without having to make them up. All other missed Saturdays must be made up. Please see the KSB Attendance Policy for further details. Members of Towne Choir must maintain an exemplary Saturday attendance record, Wednesday Absence/Make-up Policy: A boy should not accept an invitation to be a Towne Choir Candidate unless he can consistently attend Wednesday Towne Choir rehearsals. Towne Choir members are permitted to miss one Wednesday rehearsal in the Fall semester and two in the Spring semester without having to make them up. Additional missed Wednesday Towne Choir rehearsals must be made up from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on those days when Sunday Make-up rehearsals are scheduled.  Members of Towne Choir must maintain an exemplary Wednesday attendance record, Note that make up rehearsals for additional missed Wednesday Towne Choir rehearsals are held simultaneously with Towne Choir Candidate rehearsals, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on those days when Sunday Make-up rehearsals are scheduled. Therefore, there is no make-up for missed Towne Choir Candidate rehearsals. Solid attendance at the Towne Choir Candidate rehearsals (5:00 – 6:00 pm on those days when Sunday Make-up rehearsals are scheduled) is crucial for a Towne Choir Candidate to successfully become a full-fledged member of Towne Choir. Concert Tours: Members of the Towne Choir have seniority over Concert Choir in regards to KSB concert tours, ASSUMING they are in good standing in the areas of singer-musicianship, rehearsal and performance attendance, and behavior. Promotions: Here is how a typical* Towne Choir member might progress through the higher KSB groups.
